#MakeoverMonday Week 26 2019
The Tableau Community provides excellent resources for evangelists to learn, create and inspire enthusiasts. #MakeoverMonday is one such initiative by Eva Murray and Andy Kriebel. It’s a portal into the plethora of functionalities that Tableau provides and is facilitated via simple datasets.
For this week the dataset chosen was the ‘World Alcohol Consumption’ dataset from Data.World

What’s good?
- Simple representation via bar charts
- Legible axis labels
- Perfectly scaled axes
Here’s my slant –

Since the dataset is pretty simple – the onus was on the visual appeal, which in my opinion is the essence of Makeover Monday exercises.
I used simple Tableau functionalities – Shapes and text to create a graph (Countries x Liters of alcohol consumption per capita). I filtered it down to the top 10 ranked countries to make it more intuitive.
This was my maiden attempt at a makeover Monday dataset and I plan to post these visualizations every week with a detailed walkthrough as the visualization get equipped with complex functionalities.
